Most common PS4 Repairs
PS4 HDMI Port Replacement
HDMI Port replacmeent is one of the most common P4 repairs. Faulty HDMI will result in black screen or "No Signal" showing on your TV or monitor. As long as the light on your PS4 turns to steady white colour, there is a very good chance that replacing the HDMI will fix the problem.
We always replace and never attempt to repair the HDMI port. In some cases, the pads on the motherboard can get damaged if the unit was dropped or mishandled. With our experience, we can usually rebuild the missing pads and get your PS4 up and running again.
PS4 Overheating
PS4 Overheating is a common problem. The first symptom is usually a loud noise coming from your fan. Some customers describe it as a "helicopter taking off" kind of sound. The overheating can sometimes cause the PS4 to shut off completely.
The cause of PS4 Overheating is a combination of a collection of dust and dirt in the console, as well as the thermal paste used as a heat conductor between the CPU and the heatsink drying out and not covering the entire surface of the CPU. We will give your PS4 a thorough, detailed clean and replace the thermal paste on the CPU. This will prevent your console from overheating and shutting off, and your PS4 will run quietly and smoothly again.
Bluray Disc Drive Repairs
Given the age of the PS4 consoles, the issues with the Blueray drive are widespread. From faulty lasers (not reading discs) to drives completely unresponsive and not taking or ejecting discs.
The most common problem with the disc drives is the laser, the electronic component responsible for reading the Bluray discs. It can fail for no obvious reason, but more often is a result of not keeping your discs clean. The faulty laser will have to be replaced. Another common problem we are seeing is the mechanism of the disc drive failure due to foreign objects inserted into the disc drive.
File System Corruptions
PS5 consoles use internal hard drive to store the operating system files, your installed and downloaded games, game updates, game progress, screen shots, video captures etc. Corruption of this internal storage can cause the system to refuse booting up and various system errors can occur.
The best way to prevent system corruption is to make sure you perform the complete shutdown procedure before you unplug the console from the power. Also, ensure you never unplug the console or interrupt the system update process.
If the corruption is not software, but hardware related, we need to install an new internal hard drive. We will install a brand new 2Tb hard drive for only $160.
Self-Inflicted Issues
In attempt to repair the console themselves, and maybe save some money, people follow various YouTube videos and more often than not, cause serious damage to the console. Repairing so self-inflicted damages will often cost you more than the original cost of the repair, and in some cases you may end up with a console which cannot even be repaired. Our "no fix - no fee" policy does not apply to self-inflicted damage repairs.
The most common self-inflicted damages involve ripping off the connectors from the board, damaging ribbons that connect various parts of the console with the motherboard etc.
The photos below show an example where a customer ripped off the fan connector while trying to open the console and clean it. We had to rebuild the pads on the motherboard in order to connect the fan and we still had to give the console a proper clean.
